This past week, four Canadian provinces – Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Alberta – extended invitations to candidates through their respective provincial immigration programs. These provincial nomination draws are part of Canada’s ongoing efforts to address labor market needs and demographic challenges through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Notably, each province, with the exception of Quebec (due to a unique federal agreement), participates in the PNP, selecting skilled economic immigration candidates to meet local demands.
Ontario Immigration Results (July 25, 2024)
Ontario held a draw on July 25, 2024, issuing 209 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) through the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). This draw specifically targeted general practitioners and family physicians (NOC 31102) who had created an Express Entry profile between July 25, 2023, and July 25, 2024, and had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 395 and 444.
British Columbia Immigration Results (July 23, 2024)
On July 23, British Columbia conducted two British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) draws. The first was a general draw, which resulted in 35 invitations to candidates from the following streams:
- Skilled Worker
- Skilled Worker – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC)
- International Graduate
- International Graduate – EEBC
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled
The minimum score required for most streams was 134, except for the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream, which required a minimum score of 110.
Additionally, a targeted draw on the same day saw 73 invitations issued to candidates in the childcare, construction, healthcare, and veterinary care sectors. Minimum scores for these occupations ranged from 80 to 104.
Quebec Immigration Results (June 27, 2024)
Quebec released the results of a draw conducted on June 27, 2024, in which 1,528 candidates were invited to apply for permanent selection. Candidates were required to have a high level of French proficiency (level 7 or higher) and a score of at least 581 points. Those with a valid job offer outside the Greater Montreal area were prioritized.
Alberta Immigration Results (July 2, 2024)
Alberta retroactively posted the results of a draw held on July 2, 2024. In this draw, the province issued 37 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates in the dedicated healthcare pathway with an Alberta job offer. All invited candidates had a CRS score of 301 or higher.
These provincial draws are part of Canada’s ongoing strategy to address labor shortages and support economic growth across the country.
