Provincial Nominations Issued by Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba: Key Highlights

This week, three Canadian provinces—Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba—issued provincial nominations to candidates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). These nominations allow selected candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada based on their work experience, skills, and education.

Each province’s PNP operates its own scoring system to assess the eligibility of candidates, focusing on specific areas such as work experience or education. Some PNP streams are “enhanced,” meaning they align with the federal Express Entry system, giving candidates in the Express Entry pool the opportunity to gain additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. A provincial nomination awards an extra 600 CRS points, significantly increasing the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

PNP Results, August 10-16:

Ontario

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted two draws on August 13 through the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream:

  • First draw: 420 candidates with job offers in selected healthcare occupations were invited, with a minimum score of 50 under the OINP scoring system.
  • Second draw: 958 candidates with job offers in other in-demand positions were invited, with a minimum score of 54.

British Columbia

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) held four targeted draws this week through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, including the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option. These draws invited at least 135 candidates in five key sectors:

  • 35 candidates in childcare occupations, with a minimum score of 87.
  • 27 candidates in construction occupations, with a minimum score of 89.
  • 27 candidates in healthcare occupations, with a minimum score of 99.
  • 45 candidates in tech occupations, with a minimum score of 120.
  • Less than five candidates in veterinary occupations, with a minimum score of 80.

Manitoba

On August 15, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held two draws:

  • First draw: 252 candidates were invited under the International Education Stream. Eligible candidates had a master’s or doctoral degree from a Manitoba institution within the past three years and met a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of at least 7.
  • Second draw: 40 candidates were invited through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream under a “strategic recruitment initiative.” These candidates needed a minimum score of 703 according to the MPNP scoring system.

Of the total 292 candidates invited, 37 had valid Express Entry profiles.

These provincial nominations represent key opportunities for skilled workers and international graduates looking to establish permanent residency in Canada.
