British Columbia and Manitoba have announced the results of their most recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, inviting skilled workers to help fill in-demand roles in their respective provincial labor markets.
The PNPs, designed to support economic immigration, target candidates with the skills and experience needed to meet the unique needs of each province. Below is a breakdown of the recent draws.
British Columbia (B.C.)
B.C. conducted a targeted draw through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) this week, issuing invitations to 147 candidates through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, including the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option. This draw aimed to address labor gaps in critical sectors of the province’s economy.
Cut-off scores for invited candidates varied by industry, with the following results:
- Childcare workers: Minimum score of 89 (33 invitations issued)
- Construction workers: Minimum score of 90 (27 invitations issued)
- Healthcare workers: Minimum score of 101 (22 invitations issued)
- Tech workers: Minimum score of 120 (64 invitations issued)
- Veterinary care workers: Minimum score of 80 (at least 1 invitation issued)
The Skilled Worker category focuses on international workers with relevant education, post-secondary training, and experience in professional, managerial, technical, or skilled occupations. Candidates must secure a full-time, permanent job offer from a B.C. employer and meet the National Occupational Classification (NOC) requirements for their role.
Manitoba
Manitoba held two draws under its Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) for skilled workers this week.
The first draw, targeting specific occupations under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, issued 145 invitations to individuals with NOC 44101 (Home support workers, caregivers, and related occupations) or those in healthcare-related roles.
The second draw under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream saw 58 invitations issued to candidates with a minimum score of 724. Only those invited under Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiative were considered.
Of the 203 invitations issued in total, 29 went to individuals with a valid Express Entry profile.
These draws highlight the ongoing efforts of both provinces to meet their labor market needs by inviting qualified individuals through the PNP system.
