A recent study has placed Canada at the top of the list for job seekers worldwide. According to Jobseeker, a leading job search platform, Canada was the most frequently searched destination for relocation among job seekers from various countries.
The study, which analyzed global job search trends from September 19 to 25, revealed that Canada was especially popular among those from Costa Rica, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Australia ranked second, followed by Switzerland and the United States, which shared third place.
Jobseeker’s research focused on trends across 30 countries with strong job markets and high GDP, based on data from the U.S. News & World Report. The platform tracked search trends using the template “jobs in [country name],” finding that Canada stood out as the primary destination for job relocation.
Why does Canada attract so many job seekers? The study attributes this popularity to Canada’s immigration programs, particularly Express Entry, which aims to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers. The system ranks candidates based on factors like work experience, education, and language skills, offering permanent residency to top-ranking candidates.
Other contributing factors include Canada’s strong economy, publicly-funded healthcare, and diverse culture. Additionally, the country has an impressive employment rate among immigrants, with those landing in Canada within five years of immigration experiencing a 77.8% employment rate, increasing to 84.5% for those who arrived over 10 years ago.
Canada’s reputation as a great place to work is further supported by its high rankings on global indexes. In September 2024, the country ranked 4th in the U.S. News & World Report’s updated global rankings, scoring highly in areas like quality of life, entrepreneurship, and social purpose.
These factors combine to make Canada an attractive destination for job seekers looking for new opportunities abroad.
